What is European Union CE certification marking?
時間:2006-12-19  作者:N/A  回数:

CE marking is the pass for products to enter European Union countries. European Union has constituted many security rules in order to insure people’s life and property safety. Many products should be labeled by CE marking, for instance, machine, low voltage electric products, electromagnetism compatibility products, etc. As for some products, it is compulsory to regulate that they should be verified by qualified authentication institution, and pasted with CE markings after being authenticated, before they can be sold in various countries of EU.

CE marking is one of the safety certification markings, being regarded as the passport of manufacturers to enter the European market. Every product labeled with CE marking can be sold in every member state of European Union, not necessarily in line with the requirements of every member state. Thus, products could circulate freely in European Union.

In the European Union market, CE marking is one of enforceability certification. Products of European Union enterprises or other countries should all be labeled with CE marking in order to indicate that the product conforms to the basic requirements of European Union’s “THE NEW METHOD OF TECHONLOGY CONCORDANCE AND STANDARDIZATION”. It is one of the enforceability requirements of products in the law of European Union.

The two letters “CE” is from the abbreviation of Communate Europpene in French, which means European community. Later, European community evolved to be the European Union.

For the past few years, CE marking is more and more used on products in the European market (European Union, member states of Europe Free Trade Association, except Switzerland). Commodities with CE marking indicate that it conforms to a series of requirements of safety, health, environmental protection, consumer protection, and so on.

In the past, different European Community countries have different requirements on the imported and sold products. So the products made in accordance with one country’s standards may not be sold on the markets of other countries. CE came into being as part of the method of eliminating trade barrier. Therefore, CE represents CONFORMITE EUROPEENNE. In fact, CE is also the abbreviation of the phrase “EUROPEAN COMMUNITY” in many languages, EUROPEAN COMMUNITY is abbreviated to EC in English at first, but it is COMMUNATE EUROPEIA in French, COMUNITA EUROPEA in Italian, COMUNIDADE EUROPEIA in Portuguese, and COMUNIDADE EUROPE in Spanish, so EC is changed to CE. CE is also regarded as CONFORMITY WITH EUROPEAN (DEMAND). CE marking means: products with the symbol “CE” conform to the Essential Requirements in European rules. The symbol is used to verify that the product has passed corresponding qualification evaluation and/or conform to the standards of manufacturers. So CE marking becomes the pass for the products to enter European Community market. If industrial products which are required to have CE marking do not have  “CE” marking, they can not go on sale. Some products that have been pasted with “CE” marking, if not conforming to , the security requirements, should be taken back from the market.. If the products violate the regulations of CE marking continuously, they should be forbidden from accessing to market.
